One of the more "heart in the throat" moments came when it was time to make some major cuts in the newly welded up aluminum body. The hood carburetor bubble, inlet air duct, driving light recesses and headlight buckets were all fabricated as separate assemblies and then welded into the main hood body structure. The following photos show the attack on the headlight openings; first the preliminary cutout and then the full hole on the other side.
The tilting front end is complete with the exception of riveting it to the steel tubing and adding the front wheel splash panels. The following photo shows the underside of the raised hood. The shrouding on the extension of the nose inlet air can be seen as well as the back side of the headlight pods.
