Being fortunate enough to live in a beautiful part of the world with spectacular scenery only a few short miles away, allows us to take the Cobras on drives on a routing basis. Sometimes these drives are with a group as a part of a planned outing and other times, they are very spur of the minute. Sometimes they are only for an hour or so and sometimes we leave at sunup and don't get back to dusk. A few times these trips have turned into several days in duration. More recently, I have begun to take photos of some of these vistas. Although the photos don't do most of the scenery justice, they are a reminder to us of some of the good times we have had in the cobras.
Bodie is a goast town off highway CA395 in the central section of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Fun when we got there, but it was a rough dusty ride for three cobras.
Old Altamont Pass Highway near Livermore CA. One of our favorite roads near home. Only problem is that it is just to short.
Highway 89 near South Lake Tahoe. CA89 runs from the Lake Tahoe area up along the Sierra Nevada Mountains to Lassen Naptional Park and then continuews through the Mount Shasta area, then into Oregon. Three guys and the Cobras out on a beautiful fall day.
Highway CA4 is a typical rural California two lane road. It runs essentially east and west from the San Francisco Bay Area up into the Sierra Nevada's south of Lake Tahoe. A perfect road for a solo drive toward the Sierra Nevada foothills.
So much for the "short trips". The next page I get Red rolling on a serious road trip.
